Georgia Gold Peanuts

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 3 Tbsp. orange juice
  • 1 tsp. grated orange rind
  • 2 1/2 cups salted peanuts
  • * 1/2 tsp. gold luster dust, optional

Chocolate Georgia Gold Peanuts
Combine the sugar, water and orange juice and blend thoroughly. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally to 238 degrees on candy thermometer or to soft-ball stage. Remove from heat and add orange rind and peanuts. Stir lightly to coat peanuts with glaze. Turn out at once onto waxed paper and separate peanuts with a fork. Cool completely and place in zip-loc bag, sprinkle with gold dust and shake bag. Place in a pint size jar.

Yield: 2 1/2 cups
