About 90% of Americans Eat Too Much Salt
Most Americans consume about 40% more sodium daily than what is recommended by the USDA. Breads and rolls, cold cuts and cured meats, and pizza are the top sources of sodium in the American diet. Substituting whole foods like fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, and whole grains into your diet will greatly reduce your sodium intake. While salty snacks were #10 on the list, peanuts were not included. As a matter of fact, peanuts don't contain as much salt as you may think-one ounce of oil roasted salted peanuts contains just 119 mg of sodium.
